Weather-Resistive Barriers & Exterior Wall Protection
Weather-resistive barriers, commonly called WRBs, form an important layer behind exterior siding and cladding. Their primary role is to help manage water that passes behind the finished exterior and direct it toward the outside of the wall assembly. Depending on the selected product and wall design, a WRB system may also contribute to air-control, drainage and vapor-management performance.
Diamond Exteriors installs and coordinates weather-resistive barrier systems as part of siding replacement, custom cladding, exterior renovations, new construction and multi-family exterior projects throughout Kelowna and the Central Okanagan. Products may include mechanically attached housewrap systems such as DuPont Tyvek as well as self-adhered membrane systems such as Henry Blueskin, depending on the project requirements and specified wall assembly.
A weather-resistive barrier works together with other exterior components rather than functioning as an isolated product. Window and door flashings, penetrations, custom sheet metal, rainscreen cavities, cladding attachment systems, sealants and material transitions all need to connect correctly with the WRB so water has a continuous path toward the exterior.
Exterior renovation and siding replacement projects provide an important opportunity to review these hidden layers. Once older siding or cladding is removed, accessible sheathing, existing housewrap, flashing and wall transitions can be assessed before new exterior materials are installed. Where required by the project scope, the weather-resistive barrier can then be repaired, replaced or upgraded before the new rainscreen and cladding system are completed.
Diamond Exteriors works with WRB systems behind James Hardie fibre-cement siding, metal siding, architectural cladding, panel systems, wood and wood-look siding, composite products, stucco and other exterior finishes. Our related services include rainscreen installation, building-envelope work, custom flashing, soffit and fascia, gutters, siding replacement and complete exterior renovations.
Diamond Exteriors serves Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, Peachland, Summerland, Vernon and surrounding Okanagan communities.
For weather-resistive barrier installation in Kelowna, Tyvek installation, Blueskin installation, building-envelope upgrades or complete siding and cladding replacement, Diamond Exteriors can coordinate the WRB, flashings, rainscreen and finished exterior as one integrated wall system.
