Cedar Siding & Shakes

Western Red Cedar remains a premium natural exterior material valued for its real wood grain, warm colour variation and ability to suit both traditional and contemporary architecture.

Cedar siding is available in numerous profiles. Bevel siding creates the familiar overlapping horizontal appearance, while channel and shiplap profiles produce deeper shadow lines. Tongue-and-groove cedar can be installed horizontally, vertically or diagonally and is often used where a cleaner continuous wood surface is desired.

Cedar shingles and shakes can provide additional texture for full walls, gables, entrances and architectural accent areas. Cedar can also be coordinated with timber posts, wood soffits and other natural exterior details.

Unlike factory-finished composite or metal products, exposed cedar requires a deliberate finishing and maintenance strategy. Stain, paint or other approved exterior finishes can be used depending on the desired appearance, while unfinished cedar will naturally change colour as it weathers.
